Mumm-Ra's faithful canine accomplice, Ma-Mutt is intensely loyal to Mumm-Ra, for whom he serves as both a companion and as a sounding board for his master's evil schemes. Despite his vicious appearance and hostile nature, Ma-Mutt often displays great affection to Mumm-Ra, which the devil priest appears to reciprocate - it is thought that Mumm-Ra may even hold genuine love and affection for Ma-Mutt, making Ma-Mutt quite possibly the only person to hold this dubious honour!

66-70. Thundercats Ho!

Ma-Mutt is Mumm-Ra's loyal servant. A 'dog' with many hidden talents including the ability to fly and to be used as a vessel for Mumm-Ra's magic. Ma-Mutt is often employed by his master to send messages to his others. His ability to fly and move quickly across Third Earth, displaying a projection of Mumm-Ra allows his master to remain safely in his pyramid. For example, Mumm-Ra sent Ma-Mutt to the Berserkers when he discovered there were other Thunderians living on Third Earth, and Ma-Mutt used a projection of Mumm-Ra which ordered the Berserkers to capture these Thunderians. When Lion-O attempted to infiltrate Mumm-Ra's pyramid shortly after, he made the mistake of underestimating Ma-Mutt, who transformed himself into a giant fireball and used a green gas sprayed from his mouth against Lion-O, which he eventually overcame.

71-75. Mumm-Ra Lives

The ever loyal Ma-Mutt pulled his master from the debris of Fire Rock Mountain after his apparent demise using the Star of Thundera. With Mumm-Ra too weak to act alone, he transformed Ma-Mutt into an image of himself which he was convinced would fool the Mutants. Traveling to Castle Plundarr, Ma-Mutt relayed a message to the Mutants instructing them to free The Lunataks.

78. Mask of Gorgon

While his unusual powers make him an asset to Mumm-Ra, Ma-Mutt's dog like talents are also of use. While digging for bones, he came across a book which told the history of Third Earth and which Mumm-Ra used to locate the Mask of Gorgon.

89. Hair of the Dog

Mumm-Ra used his magic to swap the bodies of Snarf and Ma-Mutt, allowing Ma-Mutt to return to the Cats Lair in Snarf's body carrying a bag of poisoned candy fruit. After drugging Lion-O, the disguised Ma-Mutt then activated the lair's Thundercats signal, which was the sign that Lion-O was out of the way and that Mumm-Ra could attack the lair. Meanwhile, the real Snarf, prisoner back at Mumm-Ra's pyramid, managed to use Mumm-Ra's transformation chant to change himself into the powerful Snarf-Ra and was able to defeat Mumm-Ra and Ma-Mutt.

91-95. Thundercubs

Mumm-Ra later sent Ma-Mutt with a false Book of Omens, accompanied by Slithe and Vultureman, to distract the Thundercats. As the pyramid fell apart, Snarf took pity on Ma-Mutt and decided to rescue him. Once out of the trance, he showed Lion-O and Snarf to the time space portal back to Third Earth, and rejoined Mumm-Ra there.

110. The Last Day

When the Ancient Spirits of Evil warned Mumm-Ra that he only had one last day to destroy the Thundercats, or they would exile him from Third Earth, they decided to make sure they were being taken seriously, Ma-Mutt bore the brunt of the spirits anger and they trapped him in exile, he was soon joined by his master, who had failed to destroy the Thundercats once again.

111-115. Return to Thundera

However, they were soon given new life by the Ancient Spirits of Evil, who needed them to continue with their evil campaign against the Thundercats.

124. Ma-Mutts Confusion

Ma-Mutt's playful dog like personality sprang up once again as Mumm-Ra attemptined to activate another of his weapons, the ancient Babylonian Barbarian Boiler. Ma-Mutt caused Mumm-Ra to fall over, who warned Ma-Mutt that one more mistake would have him exiled from the black pyramid. Ma-Mutt made another mistake shortly after, drinking from magic water Mumm-Ra had prepared to fill the boiler and as a result, Mumm-Ra banished Ma-Mutt from the pyramid. While wondering in the Forest of Darkness, Ma-Mutt fell into a pit, and was rescued by Snarf and the Thunderkittens, who took him back to Cats Lair. Mumm-Ra attacked the lair using the boiler and as a result, Snarfer built a device allowing Ma-Mutt to speak, who told them of the boiler. Outraged at having been betrayed, Mumm-Ra recalled Ma-Mutt to the pyramid and forced him to help him load the boiler, but Mumm-Ra's plan was foiled. After the battle, Mumm-Ra told Ma-Mutt he understood why he had gone to the Thundercats, and promised to make him the happiest horrible hound on Third Earth.
