The self-appointed leader of the Mutants stranded on Third Earth, S-S-Slithe is the embodiment of all that is evil about that Plun-Darrian race - ruthless, cunning, cruel and totally without remorse, S-S-Slithe craves the power of the Eye of Thundera and will let nothing stand between him and it. One of the more perceptive and intelligent Mutants, one of S-S-Slithe's greatest weaknesses is his overconfidence and ruthless ambition, coupled with a traitorous nature, all traits exploited by the devil priest Mumm-Ra in his efforts to recruit the Mutants as willing vessels of his own lust for power.

34. The Feliner-Part One

The Reptilian Mutant Slithe began his career serving as a simple cook aboard Rataro's ship. Far more ambitious than anyone could have guessed, Slithe left Rataro and his degrading life as a cook and returned to his people on Plundarr. The cunning Slithe managed to seize power, and eventually was in a position to declare himself the leader of the Reptilians. The Mutant factions, Reptilian, Monkian and Jackal men had never successfully worked together, until Slithe organised an alliance between the three factions against their common enemy, the Thundercats. Slithe and the other Mutants had forever longed to possess the mystic Sword of Omens which the Thundercats protected, and after Thundera, the Thundercats home planet, was destroyed and a handful of Thundercats fled the planet, the Mutants decided it was time to strike.

1. Exodus

Slithe led the Mutant forces from his battleship, with the other Mutant leaders, Monkian and Jackalman in tow. Slithe knew all too well he was the most intelligent among the Mutant leaders, and set about asserting his authority over Monkian and Jackalman, who resented Slithes attitude. The Mutant forces raided the Thundercats ship, searching it for the eye of Thundera. Slithe made his way to the main chamber, where he spotted the sword, with only Lion O in sight. The swords power was activated, and drove the Mutants from the ship. Slithe returned to his ship and pressed his attack, causing substantial damage to the Thundercats ship before withdrawing. After many years, Slithe and the Mutants were finally able to catch up with the Thunderians, who had crashed on a planet called Third Earth. The Mutants landed, discovering the Thundercats still in their suspension pods and unprotected, they searched for the Sword of Omens. The Thundercats broke free and attacked them. Slithe ordered a retreat, and the Mutants fled aboard their ship.

2. The Unholy Alliance

Still intent on possessing the Eye of Thundera, the Mutants searched the planet for a new base of operations, coming across a dark pyramid in the desert. Slithe led the way into the pyramid as a voice welcomed the three mutants inside. They eventually came face to face with Mumm-Ra, who also knew of the Eye of Thundera, and proposed an alliance. Slithe underestimated the devil priest, and planned to use Mumm-Ra to get the eye for himself. He made the mistake of doubting Mumm-Ra's power, and Mumm-Ra sank the Mutants ship, losing their equipment and forces in the process, Slithe had no choice but to agree to Mumm-Ra's offer. Slithe, Monkian and Jackalman faced off against the young Lion O, but were again defeated, returning to the mockery of Mumm-Ra. Slithe bated Mumm-Ra, asking him to show his own power, and enraged Mumm-Ra transformed into 'Mumm-Ra the Everliving' before the shocked Mutants and went to face Lion-O himself. Slithe awaited Mumm-Ra's returned with his fellow Mutants, and when Mumm-Ra too failed, Slithe again mocked the arrogant Mumm-Ra before leaving the pyramid.

4. The Slaves of Castle Plundarr

Slithes next order of business on Third Earth was to construct the Mutants a new base of operations. He began an ambitious project, the building of Castle Plundarr. Forcing the primitive Brute Men to build the fortress of the Mutants, Slithe also revealed he possessed Warp Gas, which was meant to have been banned by the Interstellar council. He used the gas to turn the Brute men against the Thundercats. Although the Thundercats were able to free the Brute Men, construction of Castle Plundarr was complete, and Slithe and the Mutants now had a permanent home on Third Earth.

6. Pumm-Ra

The Mutants then began to work with Mumm-Ra on a regular basis. Though Slithe still did not trust Mumm-Ra or his ambitious schemes, he was willing to risk it in pursuit of the Eye of Thundera.

14. The Spaceship Beneath the Sands

Slithe was also the only Mutant who dared stand up to Mumm-Ra. Realizing that there assaults on the Thundercats were useless without the advanced weaponry they had possessed on their battleship, Slithe managed to manipulate Mumm-Ra into giving them back their weapons. The Mutants were able to seize vehicles, weapons and technology from the craft, which Mumm Ra had feared could be used against him. The Mutants lost their initial battle against the Thundercats with their new weapons, and Mumm-Ra demanded that they return the weapons and equipment to their ship, but the defiant Slithe refused. Mumm-Ra retreated to his pyramid, allowing Slithe to keep the equipments.

33. Dimension Doom, 60. Mumm Rana

The Mutants often worked alone, under Slithes direction. While the Mutants had initially protested Slithe taking charge, they eventually came to accept it, as Slithe was the bravest and most intelligent of them, and the Mutant with whom Mumm-Ra most often dealt directly with. Slithe also worked with Mumm-Ra alone, in where Slithe was summoned to assist him in the theft of his old enemy Wizz-Ra's magic helmet. They managed to seize the helmet, but the Thundercats infiltrated Mumm-Ra's pyramid. Slithe warned Mumm-Ra about the Thundercats shortly before their scheme was foiled, and Slithe was sent flying back to Plundarr and out of the pyramid by Wizz-Ra. Slithe found out more about Mumm-Ra's past every so often, and even discovered an 'anti' Mumm Ra named Mumm Rana, and he and Mumm-Ra worked together to control her and use her against the Thundercats. He also became aware of Mumm-Ra's weakness against his own reflection.

70. Thundercats Ho Part Five

During Mumm-Ra's attempt to possess the Star of Thundera, Slithe thought he had witnessed Mumm-Ra be destroyed, and he and Mutants had fled as the Stars power was turned on Mumm Ra.

71-75. Mumm Ra Lives

Slithe and the Mutants were considerably surprised to learn Mumm Ra had survived, and he enlisted them once more, ordering them to free the Lunataks. Slithe was reluctant to do so, not wanting another faction to be drawn into their battle with the Thundercats, and having some knowledge already from Mumm Ra of just how dangerous the Lunataks were. But Slithe had little choice. On this occasion, Mumm Ra would not take no for an answer. Slithe led an operation to free the Lunataks from their imprisonment, and due to Vultureman, he succeeded. Slithe made a deal with the Lunataks leader, Luna. The Mutants assisted the Lunataks in the rebuilding of their empire on Third Earth, and their Sky Tomb fortress, with Slithe commanding Brute Men slaves aboard Sky Tomb.

86. Mumm Rana's Belt

While the Lunataks began their second campaign to rule Third Earth, the Mutants decided to lay low. Slithe even took to playing poker at Plundarr. Slithe worked with Luna on occasion, assisting her in a plot against Mumm Rana.

109. The Circus Train

When the mysterious Captain Bragg came to Third Earth, secretly planning to round up both the Mutants and the Lunataks, Jackalman and Monkian were both captured and lured into Bragg's prison aboard his circus train. Vultureman and Slithe both watched this, and despite Vultureman telling Slithe they should lay low, Slithe was intrigued by Bragg's mysterious Merna, and foolishly forced Vultureman to come with him in a rescue attempt. With Vultureman, Slithe battled both Captain Bragg and the young Wily-Kat, before being thrown into prison aboard the circus train. The Lunataks also ended up imprisoned, depriving Mumm Ra of all his allies on Third Earth.

115. Return to Thundera Part Four

Slithe was later rescued by Ma-Mutt, as Mumm-Ra required the services of the Mutants once more. Slithe led fellow Mutants Vultureman, Jackalman and Monkian once more in an attempt to destroy the Thundercats. They were ultimately defeated, by the combined forces of the Thundercats and their Third Earth allies, and Slithe was last seen fuming aboard the Circus Train.
