Vultureman’s Voice!

One of the most popular evil characters from the ThunderCats series was the Mutant inventor Vultureman – constantly at odds with the other Mutants, Vultureman would play a central role in many of the series’ most memorable episodes.

One of the most important characteristics displayed by Vultureman in the series was his crowing, at times almost screeching voice, designed to be vaguely reminiscent of a real vulture. Most fans remember Vultureman’s voice as being that of Earl Hammond, the voice actor who portrayed many other iconic characters, including Mumm-Ra – however, in Vultureman’s earliest appearances, including his debut in “Lord of the Snows”, Vultureman’s voice is actually completely different! Although it is not known for certain, it sounds as though in this first appearance Vultureman was voiced by Bob McFadden, the voice actor who portrayed, amongst other characters, Snarf and S-S-Slithe, and you can hear elements of both characters in the first lines spoken by Vultureman in the series!

Vultureman’s voice would sound like this for his next two appearances, in “Return to Thundera” and “Snarf Takes Up the Challenge”, before assuming the voice we all remember in the episode “Sixth Sense”. For comparison, below is another voice clip of Vultureman, taken from the episode “The Shifter”.
