| Notes of Interest: | When DC/Wildstorm began publishing ThunderCats, their very first publication was ThunderCats #0. A special issue that served as a precursor to their forthcoming ThunderCats: Reclaiming Thundera mini-series, #0 featured a short story, a few words by writer Ford Lytle Gilmore, and a selection of ThunderCats pin-ups by a variety of artists in DC/Wildstorm’s stable. Amongst those artists was Francisco Herrera, who pencilled and inked this striking piece. Herrera’s more “cartoon-influenced” style would go on to cause great controversy amongst ThunderCats fans through his work on #3 of DC/Wildstorm’s first ThunderCats mini-series, with a style that fans either loved or hated, and his unique interpretation of the feline heroes is evident even in this early piece. |
