About This Figure
Gordy International of Yonkers, New York, with some cards credited to Henry Gordy International Inc. of Plainfield, New Jersey. Fifteen ThunderCats item numbers confirmed. Canadian cards distributed by Charan Toy of Montreal and Toronto, French cards by Masport, which sold the range as CosmoCats.
LJN made the ThunderCats action figures. Gordy made the rack toys, the ones hung by the till at a dollar and change, and fifteen item numbers are confirmed so far. A play knife, a sheathed adventure set with a membership card to fill in, a pendant on a chain, sunglasses and a school slate with chalk. A puffy sticker album with a sheet of figures, and the same stickers again on four backing colours. A target set with a dart pistol, two different bubble guns, a flash gun, a sparkle gun, a ratchet, a signal torch and Panthro’s nunchaku.
Everything came on a black card with the logo across the top, a caution line about small parts along the caution strip, character roundels wherever the blister left room, and an item number at the bottom right, three digits on the American cards and a GY prefix on the Canadian ones. The Yonkers, New York address is on the guns and the pendant, but the play knife credits Henry Gordy International Inc. of Plainfield, New Jersey.
The range travelled. Canada came through Charan Toy of Montreal and Toronto, whose cards run every line in French as well and carry a GY item prefix, and both known Canadian items, the Big Click and the Signal Gun, are only confirmed in that market. France came through Masport, which sold the property as CosmoCats and translated the packaging with it, so the Panthro set becomes the Arme de Pantero and the target set the Jeu de Cibles. Four items are confirmed in French so far, and we would be glad to hear from anyone holding one we have not listed.
