The architect
Tygra is the architect of Cats Lair, a highly intelligent and thoughtful ThunderCat whose primary strengths are his mental abilities. Perhaps because of his experience and knowledge, along with his levelheaded nature, even though Lion-O is Lord of the ThunderCats, Jaga appointed Tygra as the Head of the ThunderCats Council. Although naturally shy and peaceable in personality, Tygra is nonetheless a formidable adversary in combat and will never shy away from battle in the defence of his friends or the innocent.
When the creators gave each ThunderCat a defining trait, Panthro got strength and Cheetara got speed. Tygra got integrity.
The bolo whip
His weapon is a bolo whip, part whip and part bolas, and it does a great deal more than strike. It extends to considerable length, fires energy blasts, throws fireballs when cracked against rock or wall, and can be strung taut as a ladder or a bridge across a gap. Jaga gave it to him during the flight from Thundera.
It is also the source of his invisibility. Wrapped around himself it takes him out of sight entirely, but only while he keeps hold of it, so the trick fails the moment he is disarmed. In Out of Sight he pushes it too far, turning both himself and Nayda invisible at once. The whip overloads, the two of them are stranded that way, and only Lion-O and the Sword of Omens can undo it.
The whip is also what breaks the Sword of Omens in two during All that Glitters, in a duel Mumm-Ra engineered between him and Lion-O.
Mind power
Tygra can build an illusion inside another mind and make it hold. It is the most dangerous thing he does and the most expensive, draining him badly enough that he largely stops using it after the Trial of Mind Power.
That trial is worth watching closely. He had been deliberately hoarding mental strength for it, and while testing Lion-O he was simultaneously holding the Mutants off from interfering. The illusion he finally reaches for is Thundera dying, which is the one thing Lion-O cannot look at calmly.
The Cave of Time
In Trouble with Time, searching for Thundrillium, Tygra wanders into the Cave of Time and ages almost to death inside it. Cheetara is the only ThunderCat fast enough to go in after him, and he is saved at the Warrior Maidens’ fountain of youth.
He is also the one Mumm-Ra targets when he wants the Sword of Omens stolen by a friendly hand, appearing to him disguised as the plant being Silky.
