Mumm-Ra Found a New Body, and It Belongs to Skeletor

Every ThunderCats toy crossover so far has worked the same way: put Lion-O in someone else’s house style and see if the mane survives. Mattel’s Masters of the Universe x ThunderCats line does that too. Then it does something considerably stranger with the villain.

It does not give you Mumm-Ra next to Skeletor. It gives you Mumm-Ra inside Skeletor.

The two character cards

The figure ships with two cards that fit together into a single image. On most Origins releases that text is flavour. Here it is continuity, and it is the reason this figure is more than a repaint.

Read them in that order and notice what it does. It does not treat the two villains as equals meeting in the middle. The Ancient Spirits are the constant and Mumm-Ra is the disposable part. They used him up on Third Earth, the ThunderCats beat him, and the Spirits went shopping. Skeletor is the replacement hire.

For a line of five and a half inch retro figures aimed at six year olds, that is a surprisingly cold read of our own antagonist.

One body, two villains

Skeletor is blue. Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living is close enough to blue that the same torso carries both without a repaint, so neither build reads as a compromise. Four swaps take you from one to the other.

SKELETOR MUMM-RA

• Head. A yellow Skeletor skull, or the Mumm-Ra headdress with its gold and purple crown, twin snakes and red tendrils.
• Wings. One piece, reversible. Purple and black for Skeletor, red for Mumm-Ra.
• Harness. Both carry the twin-snake emblem rather than Skeletor’s usual bones.
• Skirt armour, plus a Mumm-Ra arm wrap.

The Sword of Plun-Darr stays with him either way. It is Mumm-Ra’s weapon, the dark counterpart to the Sword of Omens, and it is the one accessory in the box that belongs entirely to us.

The detail that is not on the box

Skell-Ra is not on the standard Origins body. Collectors who have had one in hand report it uses the larger buck developed for the Turtles of Grayskull line, which makes him noticeably taller than an ordinary Origins figure.

That matters if you were planning to stand him next to a vintage-styled Skeletor. He will not match. Whether that reads as a flaw or as the Ever-Living having outgrown his host is, conveniently, up to you.

Price and availability

This is not a new reveal. Skell-Ra was announced in January 2025 and reached shelves in the middle of that year, in the crossover wave with Lion-O, Cheetara and Battle Cat-Man. What has changed is the price.

Where he sits in the archive

He is already in the archive, filed under the whole Mattel MOTU x ThunderCats run. Two things about that entry are worth flagging. It carries no product photography at all, which the image set on this page fixes. And it spells him Skel-Ra, one L, against Mattel’s Skell-Ra. Ours is the typo, and it is the kind that quietly costs you every search for the correct name.
