Like the SDCC LED Exclusives? The Originals are Half the Price at BigBadToyStore
If you liked the LED eye exclusives at SDCC this year but cannot wait, check out the original LED Lion-O and Mumm-Ra ULTIMATES. They are also half the price.
Update, 28 July 2026: Super7 has now listed both SDCC figures for general sale on its own store, at the same booth prices, Lion-O at $75 and Mumm-Ra at $95. If the Toy Colors deco is what you were after, you no longer need to chase the aftermarket. Links are below.
That settles the availability question, but it does not settle the value one, and this is where it gets interesting. Super7 already made LED-eyed versions of both characters. They arrived as Con All-Stars exclusives back in 2024, they use the same 7-inch ULTIMATES bodies, and BigBadToyStore has both of them sitting in stock today at 45 percent off. So both versions are buyable right now, and the only question left is which is worth your money.
| SDCC 2026 Toy Colors | 2024 LED Eyes, in stock | |
|---|---|---|
| Lion-O | $75 | $39.59 (was $71.99) |
| Mumm-Ra | $95 | $51.14 (was $92.99) |
| Both | $170 | $90.73 |
One SDCC Mumm-Ra costs more than both original figures put together.
The deco is the difference, and that is all it is
Underneath the paint these are the same sculpts, and paint is essentially what Super7 changed for San Diego. The 2024 releases wear the show-accurate cartoon deco, pale skin on Lion-O and blue-grey on Mumm-Ra, while the convention pair take the flat LJN toy palette, orange and green, the way the figures actually looked hanging in the blister in 1985. It is a real reason to want one, but it is not a reason to think you are getting the better figure.

What is actually in the box
The price gap on its own would be reason enough to look twice, but it is not where the argument ends. Setting Super7’s own promo art for the convention figures against the shipping contents of the 2024 releases turns up a fairly one-sided picture.
| Lion-O | SDCC 2026, $75 | 2024 LED Eyes, $39.59 |
|---|---|---|
| Head sculpts | 1, fixed | 3 |
| Extra hands | 2 pairs | 3 pairs |
| Sword of Omens | 2, short and extended | 3, two glow in the dark |
| Claw shield | 3 | 2, one wearable |
| Jade Dragon | not included | two-headed Jade Dragon |
| Lights | Eyes | Eyes |
| Packaging | LJN-style card and blister | Deluxe window box |

The Lion-O gap is the one that stings. Three head sculpts against one, and the convention figure drops the two-headed Jade Dragon entirely.
Mumm-Ra · SDCC against the 2024 LED release

| Mumm-Ra | SDCC 2026, $95 | 2024 LED Eyes, $51.14 |
|---|---|---|
| Extra hands | 3 pairs | 4 pairs |
| Cape | sculpted wrappings | poseable soft goods |
| Sword of Plun-Darr | yes | yes, glow in the dark |
| Extra weapons | LJN-style sword and dagger | not included |
| Sphere of Seti | not included | yes |
| Chain of Loyalty | not included | yes |
| Lights | Eyes | Eyes and the chest emblem |
| Packaging | LJN-style card and blister | Deluxe window box |
Mumm-Ra is closer, but look at the bottom rows. The 2024 release does not just light the eyes, it lights the Ancient Spirits of Evil emblem on his chest too. Super7 badged that one “Light Up Details” rather than “Eyes Light Up,” and standing on a dark shelf it is the difference between a gimmick and a presence.
Where the SDCC figures still win
None of which makes these the same toy, and the convention pair have three things going for them that no accessory count is ever going to argue away.
The first is the deco itself, which is the entire reason the Toy Colors line exists. If you want Lion-O in flat vintage LJN orange with that powder-blue harness, looking exactly the way he did hanging in the blister in 1985, then nothing in the 2024 box is going to scratch that particular itch. It is a look rather than a spec sheet, and wanting it is perfectly reasonable.
The second, and honestly the one that would tempt me hardest, is the packaging. The convention figures come on a card and blister built to ape the original LJN releases, right down to the artwork panel and the hanging peg, where the 2024 releases sit in the usual deluxe ULTIMATES window box. If you are the sort of collector who keeps things carded, or who just wants a shelf that looks like a 1985 toy aisle rather than a modern collector shelf, that is not a small detail.

The third point is Mumm-Ra’s weapon set, which picks up an LJN-style sword and a dagger the original never shipped with, while Lion-O gains a third claw shield along the way. Small things, but they are a nice nod to the 1985 shelf.
So it really comes down to what you were chasing in the first place, and for the first time you can act on either answer today. If it is the vintage toy deco and that carded presentation, Super7 has them listed now at $75 and $95. If it was the glowing eyes and the figure itself, the 2024 releases are half the money with a good deal more in the box.
