The Astral Moat Monster Opens for Pre-Order at $195, Under a Line Name It Did Not Have in July

Super7 put the 14-inch Astral Moat Monster on sale this afternoon at $195, with shipping estimated for December. Super7 has also moved it into a different line since San Diego: it now sits under ThunderCats ULTIMATES! Vinyl.

The Astral Moat Monster Opens for Pre-Order at $195, Under a Line Name It Did Not Have in July

Update, 23 October 2026. Super7 has taken the listing down. The product URL now redirects to the super7.com home page, the ThunderCats collection returns 143 products with no Astral Moat Monster among them, and the figure has dropped out of Super7’s own ThunderCats feed, all checked by hand this evening. We do not know why and Super7 has not said. Everything below describes the listing as it stood when it went up yesterday morning, and the price and ship date in it were read off that page while it was live. There is nowhere to order this today. The buy link on this page now points at our own archive entry rather than at a dead product page, and we will update it if the listing comes back.

Some creatures are too big for the line they belong to.

Super7 opened pre-orders on the ThunderCats Astral Moat Monster this afternoon, three months after it stood on the San Diego Comic-Con floor as a display piece. The listing is brand new: Super7’s own ThunderCats feed published it at 11:10 Pacific, and until then the figure had no product page at all, only the mailing-list signup the company pointed fans at in July. The price is $195.00. Super7 now estimates shipping for December 2026, the first hard date anyone has attached to the figure, and a date that moves the release out of the window it was promised in. It also settles the question our July reveal story had to leave open, namely when the display piece on the San Diego stand would turn into something a collector could order.

The figure itself is unchanged from the reveal, and the specs Super7 published at San Diego have all survived contact with the listing. It stands 14 inches tall, it has seven points of articulation in the wings, head, arms and feet, and it ships in vintage-style packaging that nods at the 1986 box. What has changed is which Super7 line it is being sold in.

ULTIMATES! Vinyl is a different line

Super7 showed this at Comic-Con as a ThunderCats ULTIMATES!, and that is how our July post carried it. The product page calls it ThunderCats ULTIMATES! Vinyl. ULTIMATES! is Super7’s seven-inch collector line, built so the figures stand together on a shelf and share a scale; the Moat Monster is twice that height and could never have joined them without dwarfing every character it is supposed to menace. So it went into vinyl instead, alongside pieces like the SuperSize Snoopy, which Super7 sells at $395 on the same storefront.

LJN reached the same conclusion in 1986 and solved it the same way. The original Astral Moat Monster was not a carded figure in Wave 1; it was a boxed creature with a one-off mold, sharing no parts with the eight figures and three vehicles it shipped beside, and our LJN toy archive entry has the Wave 1 breakdown.

One thing on the page contradicts another

Worth knowing before you order. Under the description, the page runs Super7’s standard ULTIMATES! explainer block, and that block says 7” COLLECTOR SCALE and “7” Scale, perfect for display and cross-line compatibility”. The product copy directly above it says the figure is 14 inches tall. Both are on the same page at the same time.

The explainer is boilerplate rather than a correction, since it is the same panel Super7 prints on every ULTIMATES! listing and nothing in it was written about this particular figure. But the SDCC reveal card, the product description and every archive entry we hold all say 14 inches, and the spec panel is the only place we have found that says otherwise.

Where to get it, and the answer today is nowhere

When this went up, Super7’s own store was the only place carrying it. We checked the other three big retailers that afternoon and all of them came back empty: BigBadToyStore returns two Godzilla figures from “Invasion of Astro-Monster” and no Moat Monster, Entertainment Earth reports no matches at all, and an Amazon search surfaces other ThunderCats ULTIMATES figures with none of them this one.

Super7’s own listing has since gone too, so the honest answer is that no retailer we can read is taking orders for this figure. Our Astral Moat Monster archive entry carries the specifications and will carry a buy path again the moment one exists.

Keep the SKU, UL-THUN-10783. It is the thing to search on if the listing comes back under a different handle. The episode, the 1986 LJN figure and the SDCC reveal are all on the Astral Moat Monster hub.

LJN boxed it in 1986 and Super7 is boxing it in 2026. The vinyl box is the right answer.
