The Unlicensed Dasin Lion-O Sold Out Almost Instantly, and Pre-Orders Are Still Open Around $50
Reports reaching us say the 1/12 Dasin Model Lion-O cleared out at GunDamit almost as soon as it went up. Buyers say pre-orders are still open at other Chinese specialty sellers and on AliExpress, most of them landing around fifty dollars.
The 1/12 Lion-O from Chinese maker Dasin Model went up for pre-order and, by the reports reaching us, was gone almost immediately. GunDamit, one of the Western-facing stores that carries Dasin, is now showing it sold out.
That is a retailer listing card rather than a promo shot, and the SOLD OUT stamp is the store’s own.
Buyers tell us the door is not shut. Other specialty sellers serving the Chinese market still have it open for pre-order, and it is turning up on AliExpress as well. The prices being quoted cluster around fifty dollars, which matches what GunDamit had it listed at before it cleared.
What people are actually buying
Worth being blunt about what this is, because the price makes it easy to skim past. Nobody has shown a licence for it. Warner Bros. Discovery owns ThunderCats and Super7 holds the modern figure licence. This is neither.
There is a sharper point in the timing. Mezco put its first One:12 Collective ThunderCats Lion-O behind glass at Comic-Con three weeks ago and it is still pending licensor approval, with no pre-order, no price and no confirmed format. The unlicensed one opened for orders first, and sold out.
What makes it interesting is that it is also not a bootleg in the way this site has used that word for twenty years. It is an original 1/12 sculpt with two portraits, a swappable Claw Shield gauntlet, the Sword of Omens in short and extended lengths, and at least three pairs of hands. It is competing with the licensed figures rather than counterfeiting them, and at fifty dollars it is undercutting them.
We put the whole thing in context, with the full nine-image reveal set, the story of who Dasin Model are, a look at their existing Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho and Captain Tsubasa lines, and forty years of ThunderCats fakes for comparison:

Buy with your eyes open
thundercats.org does not sell, source or recommend unlicensed product, and there are no buy links in this post. If you go looking, know that you are buying an unlicensed figure from an overseas seller, that pre-order dates on this kind of release move, and that Dasin’s own artwork carries the line “final product might be slightly different from the prototype shown”.
If you want a Lion-O with a licence behind it, the Super7 ULTIMATES and DELUXE figures are the ones you can actually order today. The Mezco One:12 is a reveal, not a release, and we are tracking it on that page.
