Lion-O Finally Has a Body: Mezco's One:12 Collective ThunderCats Breaks Cover at SDCC 2026

It happened faster than anyone expected.

When Mezco teased One:12 Collective ThunderCats at Toy Fair back in February, all we got was a logo on a red field. No figures, no names, no date. The realistic read was a Toy Fair 2027 reveal at the earliest. Instead, on the second day of San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Mezco slid Lion-O into the case at booth 3045 and posted him to the world.

He is real, he is painted, and he is standing there with the Sword of Omens in the air.

What Mezco actually said

Two posts, an hour apart, both from Mezco’s own account on 24 July.

The first: “One more… just because we love you… Get your first look at the One:12 Collective Lion-O from ThunderCats ahead of MezcoCon. The reveals are just getting started, with even more coming throughout the weekend.”

The second pointed people at the glass: “See the One:12 Collective ThunderCats: Lion-O in person at SDCC. Stop by Booth 3045 for your first look.”

Read the first one again. “Even more coming throughout the weekend.” Mezco is not done, and Comic-Con is not over.

The reveal card carries the standard Mezco disclaimers, and they matter here: pending licensor approval, prototype shown, final product may vary. The booth placard says COMING SOON. That is the whole of the release information. No price, no pre-order, no window, no wave list, no accessory manifest.

What you can see in the glass

Mezco has not published a spec sheet, so everything below is read off the photographs rather than off a press release. Treat it as observation, not confirmation.

• The portrait is the win. Rankin/Bass proportions, the heavy black brow markings running back into the temples, orange slit-pupil eyes, and a mane sculpted in flowing ribbons rather than clumped spikes. Even the collectors picking holes in the rest of the figure have been conceding the head.
• The tunic reads as real cloth. There is a visible knit weave across the blue, a hemmed neckline, and shoulder pads that sit as separate layered pieces with piping. Tailored fabric costumes are the whole point of the One:12 Collective, so this is what you would expect, but Mezco has not spec’d it yet.
• The abs cut-out is sculpted underneath, exactly as the 1985 model sheet has it, rather than printed on.
• The Sword of Omens is fully realised: silver blade with a centre fuller, ornate hooked crossguard, blue gem inlays down the grip, faceted pommel, and the Eye of Thundera set in red with the black cat crest cut into it.
• The belt is a separate white piece over a blue underlayer with the red and black Eye buckle and the row of white studs.
• Articulation looks like standard One:12 architecture: ball shoulders, double elbows, wrist swivels, an ab crunch, thigh cuts and double knees.
• It is a prototype and it shows. One hand is unpainted pale resin, the thigh cuts are unhidden, and there is flash visible in places. That is normal for a booth piece six months out.

The bit only we can tell you

This is not a new idea at Mezco. It is an eleven-year-old one.

On 18 February 2015, this site published photographs of Mezco’s One:12 Collective brand sheet from their Toy Fair preview. Sitting there in the left-hand column, between Mortal Kombat Klassic and Birdman, was ThunderCats Classic. Mezco would not confirm it on the record at the time. We also noted that the project manager Mezco put us in touch with, Pierre Kalenzaga, was assigned specifically to the One:12 Collective scale.

Then nothing. The Mega Scale line carried on to 2016 and stopped, and the One:12 ThunderCats sat on that sheet unbuilt for over a decade.

The figure in the case at Comic-Con this weekend is the one that sheet promised in 2015.

What we still do not know

Price, date, wave, and whether Lion-O ships alone or leads a group. For reference, the standard One:12 Collective figure sells for $116 in 2026, with the deluxe tier running to $180. Nothing about ThunderCats pricing has been announced and we would not read the line price across without confirmation.

Mezco has said more is coming this weekend. We will update as it lands.
